Bud and Suzanne Simon

Bud and Suzanne have been missionaries in Brazil since 1995.  They lived near Belem and Santarem before finally making their home in Altamira at the end of 1996.  They have traveled extensively within the Amazon region.  Bud was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona where he also went to Arizona State University.  He garnered two undergraduate degrees – one in Finance and the other in Operations/ Production Management.  Bud also has acquired certification in Missions with external studies course work through Moody Bible Institute.  Bud has lived in the Seattle area and Central Illinois before getting married.  Suzanne received a degree in Nursing from Kent State.  She worked for several years in that field before moving to Brazil.  Suzanne spent eight years of her early childhood in Papua New Guinea where her parents worked among tribal people as Bible translators. After returning, they settled near Mansfield, Ohio where Suzanne attended high school.

Bud & Suzanne were married in Ohio in October, 1992.  They have four children:  Daniel (Dec 28, 1999), Caleb (Nov 21, 2001), Anna (Sept 10, 2004) and Samuel (July 19, 2007).

Bud currently works as overseer and missionary coordinator for the Altamira region.  There are seven missionary families in the Altamira region.  There are also more than 50 churches and church plants in the Altamira region in an area that extends across an area big than Ohio and Indiana combined.  There are more than 1000 communities in this region that need an Evangelical presence.

Bud’s passion is empowering the Brazilian leaders to plant churches and to equip them through training.  He is just as glad to be in a jungle community of 20 people as any other place.  Bud also enjoys photography, photo processing, spear fishing, dirt bike riding, reading, playing with his kids, talking to his wife, working out, and learning new things.
