"Here I am, Lord. Send me.”
That was Patty’s prayer for several years. Just before she moved to Brazil in January 2009, she shared with her home group at Vineyard Delaware County: “I am ordinary, and I am not young and strong. I know that. A part of the reason the Lord chose me, I think, is to show you that He is willing to use anyone!”

Patty is 64 years old, with two amazing children with wonderful spouses, 9 adorable grandchildren, and one precious great-granddaughter. Leaving them all behind was the hardest thing she’s ever done! Patty says she is very thankful to be a missionary in an age when we have e-mail, Skype, and FaceBook.

After serving as administrative coordinator for Xingu Mission USA for five years, Patty was familiar with the bookkeeping for the mission, so she easily transitioned into a position of helping with the accounting on the Brazil side of things. This freed up another missionary family (the Wilsons) to expand their work with people in the interior of the rain forest outside Altamira.

In addition, Patty often helps with other administrative functions of the Altamira Base. But Patty also has a vision for ministering to women and young girls. She says the Lord gave her a mission to “comfort broken women with the comfort God has given her” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) Patty was active in women’s ministry at Vineyard Columbus, has ministered to young adults with disabilities, and started the DivorceCare program at Vineyard Delaware County. As her ability to communicate in Portuguese increases, Patty is moving into her calling to share God’s love with women and girls.
