Altamira is a city of over 100,000 people. It is the largest population center in
the Xingu Region. Our municipality is one of the largest in the world, extending
South upstream on the Xingu for 960 kms, as well as West, North and South.
Altamira has four hospitals, two universities, military police and a large
airport. In April 1998 big hydroelectric lines came in giving the city electricity. Since the area is rich in natural resources like farming, lumber
and gold, it is expected to boom over the next few years.
Here in the population
center of our region we are establishing a strong city church and a training
center. From here we are training and sending out Brazilian leaders to plant
churches among their own people.

We would like to see friendships develop with
mixed teams of Brazilians and International missionaries, forming teams to be
sent from here to neighboring population centers.
From
our studies there are seventeen major population center cities along the Amazon
between Altamira and Belem. This is the natural path of our expansion. Belem is
a city of over 1,000,000 people in the mouth of the Amazon River.
