Xingu Mission - Motorcycle Ministry Report
for 2006
In
2001, we honored by the partnership of CMA of Canada through the expertise
of Missionary Ventures Canada in providing two Brazilian pastors with
their motorcycle licenses & also motorcycles for their ministries. Those
motorcycles have both been used for about 55,000 km. Here is a brief
summary of their use.
Honda XR200 (White) - This bike was originally bought for use by the
Brazilian pastor of our Vitoria church, Pr Valdinho. He used the
motorcycle for about three years to help grow his church from about 15
people to 150 people over the course of several years. The motorcycle was
also used for travel to a few outlying communities for evangelistic
outreaches. When the pastor moved on from Vitoria to work in Porto de Moz,
the bike was left for use by the Altamira Central church. The Altamira
church makes the bike available for area Brazilian pastors & lay leaders
to use when they are involved in going out to communities surrounding
Altamira. The motorcycle is used to visit many of villages & communities
surrounding Altamira. It has been vital in helping to start do planting
and overseeing churches in more than a dozen different communities.
Honda
XR200 (Red) - This bike was used by Pr Clenildo for several years to start
outreaches in the Assurini region of Altamira. It has been vital in the
life of the local Altamira church, as well as helping to oversee churches
here in Altamira as well as out in the bush. These two motorbikes are
often used together because of our team concept of working together. The
bike is used by a number of different Brazilian lay leaders & pastors to
provide discipleship and oversight to these churches.
It is clear that these two motorcyles together have provided catalyst for
planting 9 churches in the Altamira region as well as providing oversight
to another 7 churches that had been established by other means... the
motorcycles simplified the oversight process. The value added to the
ministry is immense and the lives have been touched by this ministry that
otherwise would not have heard the story of Jesus and His sacrifice for
their lives.
