Motorcycle Ministry Trip for August 2006

 Motorcycle Ministry Report 2006

The motorbike ministry continues to move forward here at the Xingu Mission. Recently, there was the opportunity to head out on a three day trip to a number of communities. We drove through across many kilometers of jungle roads, traversed the Xingu River by putting the motorcycles in a canoe, and rode across log bridges.

We spent the first evening at one of our established churches along the river, in Agua Preta. We had an even service there, which was well attended by the people in the community. It was a good evening of hearing the Word preached and also for praying together. There was probably about 25 people there in attendance.

The next day, we went by jungle paths and roads over 40 kilometers to a wide spot in the road called "Kilometer 80". It was a blast. We spent the afternoon there, visiting people and fellowshipping together. Then, as it grew towards evening, we set up the equipment for the showing the "Jesus" film. More than 100 people came to see the film, some coming from more than 20 kilometers away. It was an awesome evening as many of these people were being exposed to the Gospel for the first time. A couple of people gave their lives to the Lord which was wonderfully exciting. But, for many, it planted the seeds of possibilities of what a life with Christ would look like.

The next morning, we headed out to a new community that has no church, called Agua Fria (Cold Water). We stopped and visited a number of homes on the way there, praying for the sick and sharing the Gospel. When we finally arrived, there were dozens of people sitting patiently waiting for our arrival. And, as we started the meeting, people continued to arrive, to hear the Good News. After the meeting, we were able to visit several different homes and in one of the house visits, the couple gave their lives to the Lord.

It was wonderful to see the positive reception that there was at each place that we went. The people had a genuine interest in hearing the Gospel. More amazingly, as we traveled on the road, we stopped at a home for a drink of water. As we shared how we were going to be visiting these communities and showing the "Jesus" film, the lady earnestly asked that we would make time to visit their community also. It is wonderful to see the desire of the people's hearts to hear the Gospel message.
